Neighborhood overview
Lugbe, to the south west of the city centre, is one of the more affordable districts in Abuja. The need for better planned housing in the city, led to this district being absorbed into a newly created phase 5 of the Federal Capital City (FCC) Abuja.
Prior to this, the neighborhood was officially under the administration of Abuja Municipal Area Council (AMAC).
Several learning, social and business activities take place in and around Lugbe. These activities have risen in line with the growing population of the neighborhood. The recent opening of the Novare Gateway Mall has made the area a destination for shopping and leisure.
Other places of interest include Voice of Nigeria Transmission Station (VON), Nigerian Biotechnology Agency (NABDA) and National Space Research and Development Agency (NARSDA).

Getting around
Lugbe nears Life Camp, Jabi, Dakibiyu and Wuye to the north east. Galadimawa, Lokogoma and Games VIllage lie to the east. Kuje sits to the west.
Abuja’s Airport Road passes through the area leading on to the Nnamdi Azikiwe International Airport. From Lugbe, the airport can be reached in about 15 minutes, while the inner districts of Abuja are a 20-25 minute drive away.
This gives the neighborhood a key position in the city.
Land and houses in Lugbe
As Lugbe is a still developing neighborhood the infrastructure is basic, though this is improving.
It is the location of some of Abuja’s Federal Housing Authority (FHA) estates. These estates primarily cater to mid-low income earners. Expensive private estates are also available.
Lugbe and districts with similar characteristics such as Dawaki and Kubwa have become hot spots of real estate development recently. This is primarily due to the demand for cheaper homes compared with the higher costs associated with the more inner Abuja areas such as Garki or Guzape.
