Neighborhood overview
Kado is a developed district in phase 2 of the Federal Capital City (FCC) Abuja. The neighborhood is beautiful, in parts, with lush open spaces being an eminent feature. The area has residential and commercial elements. A number of well-known housing estates are sited here as well as several recreational spots.
The neighborhood enjoys a prime location in Abuja city. Part of The Jabi Lake is in this district. The artificial lake is one of the most popular hangout places in the city, with many amenities available in and around its vicinity. Boat riding, horse riding and skating are some of the options offered. Additionally, numerous eateries and bars can be patronised inside the large shopping mall adjacent to the lake.
Several other commercial and social activities take place, inside the many high quality hotels and educational establishments in the neighborhood.
The FCT Fish Market, also known as Kado Fish Market, sits to the south of the district. Here you can get a great selection of fish types. The market is one of the biggest in the capital.
Further notable sites are Next Cash & Carry, Wold Park and Julius Berger Water Front.

Getting around
Kado has good infrastructure, including a widespread road network. It shares borders with Jahi in the north, Mabushi in the east and Jabi in the south. Gwarinpa and Life Camp lie to the west.
Ahmadu Bello Way and Shehu Yaradua Way pass through the area. The journey to Abuja Central Area takes approximately 15-20 minutes. Ring road 2 is also close, connecting the district with other outer neighborhoods like Galadimawa.

Kado is a serene district with plenty of posh houses as well as more basic accommodation. The community is made up of various peoples for instance, traders, civil servants and professionals.
The neighborhood’s position in phase 2 means real estate can be quite expensive in places. However, generally, the district is relatively affordable especially when compared to inner areas such as Maitama.
